Women’s nationals were held in St. Louis last weekend. The top 3 all around were Maile O’Keefe, Riley McCusker and Gabby Perea for the juniors; and Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and Laurie Hernandez for the seniors.
Below are the some things that stood out to me. First the routines:
Maile O’Keefe — Beam, Day 1
Simone Biles — Beam, Day 1
Aly Raisman — Beam, Day 1
Aly Raisman — Floor, Day 1
Simone Biles — Floor, Day 1
Simone Biles — Vault, Day 1
Laurie Hernandez — Beam, Day 1
Alyssa Baumann — Floor, Day 1
Trinity Thomas — Floor, Day 2
But you can’t go without seeing the height on her rebound split jump from day 1…
Morgan Hurd — Bars, Day 2
Ashton Locklear — Bars, Day 2
Laurie Hernandez, Floor, Day 2
There might be a theme in those videos. A trio perhaps. 😉
These were my favorite leos from Nationals:
(From top L-R: Simone Biles (2x), Riley McCusker, Laurie Hernandez, Emily Gaskins, Colbi Flori)
And as a bonus, my favorite leo from Russian Cup, held this past week where Angelina Melnikova (pictured) won the all around.
The USAGym domestic season wraps up next week at the Olympic Trials, where 14 gymnasts will compete for the 5 team and 3 alternate spots. It was 15, but unfortunately Alyssa Baumann had to withdraw after injuring her elbow in training on June 29.
