Confession: I have a soft spot for disco music. It’s just so upbeat. Plus, a lot of disco songs feature string instruments prominently and, as a former violin and cello player, that’s a way to my musical heart.
One of my favorite songs from that era is “Lovin’ is Really My Game” by Brainstorm.
It was one of the singles on the R&B/funk band‘s 1977 debut album. Though it only peaked at #14 on charts in its run, the song hasn’t faded from the forefront of the entertainment business for nearly 40 years.
The song has been covered no less than four times by artists such as disco singer Sylvester, dance music singer Zino, and R&B soulstress Betty Wright. Even gospel singer Ann Nesby has done a version that landed her on the dance charts. In addition, the song made an appearance in the 1990s disco-themed movie, 54, and has also been featured on popular TV shows like So You Think You Can Dance.
